What “stays on your device” means
When you open a tool, your browser downloads that tool’s code. From then on, your file is opened, changed and saved by that code on your own device. There is no upload step and no server that receives the file, so there is nothing for us to store, see or lose.
Check it yourself
- Open your browser’s developer tools (F12 on most browsers) and go to the Network tab.
- Run any tool on a small test file.
- Look for a large upload request carrying your file. There isn’t one.

What we’re upfront about
Running in the browser has trade-offs, and we’d rather you know them before you start.
- It is a website only. There is no mobile or desktop app.
- It cannot edit the existing text inside a PDF.
- OCR reads English text only.
- Signing adds a visible signature image. It is not a certified digital signature.
- Very large files depend on your device’s memory.
- Some tools load a PDF engine or OCR language data from a public CDN. That is code, not your file. The site also runs analytics and ads.
